A Space to Slow Down, Create & Connect: Introducing Jelly’s Corner at Rooted
Happening Monday 6/29 at 9:30am
There is something magical about watching a child discover the world through their own hands.
A simple flower becomes a paintbrush. A wooden spoon becomes a drum. A sprinkle of cinnamon, a handful of herbs and spices, or treasures collected during a neighborhood walk can become an invitation to explore, create, and wonder.
In a world that often asks us to rush from one activity to the next, Jelly’s Corner is an invitation to slow down.
Created by Anjelica “Jelly” Williams, an early childhood educator with over 10 years of experience, Jelly’s Corner was born from a deeply personal journey of motherhood, healing, and rediscovering myself.
When my son Tyler was born during the COVID-19 pandemic, motherhood looked very different than I had imagined. Like many new mothers, I found myself navigating isolation, uncertainty, and postpartum depression while longing for connection and a village around me.
During that season of my life, I turned to what had always grounded me—my work with children. I began documenting the meaningful, child-led experiences I had created throughout my career as an educator and sharing them online. What started as a small creative outlet slowly grew into a community and became Jelly’s Corner: a place where nature, creativity, music, movement, and meaningful connection could come together.
Today, as I embrace motherhood once again with my four-month-old daughter Charlotte by my side, I am continuing to build the dream that began during one of the most challenging seasons of my life. Building a business while raising two children has stretched me in ways I never expected, but it has also become a promise to myself and to my children—to show them that with passion, courage, and hard work, dreams can become reality.
At the heart of Jelly’s Corner is my signature Pantry to Paintbrush philosophy—the belief that creativity does not require expensive toys, perfectly curated activities, or a Pinterest-worthy setup.
A little turmeric from your spice cabinet can become golden paint. A tea bag can create a beautiful watercolor wash. A leaf collected on a walk can become a tool for making art. The everyday objects we often overlook can become opportunities for curiosity, creativity, and connection.
Through these experiences, I hope to inspire caregivers to look at their homes and their everyday routines with fresh eyes, discovering that meaningful play does not require more—it simply requires presence.
Our classes are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and invite children ages 12 months–6 years and their caregivers to explore process art, sensory invitations, music, movement, storytelling, and mindfulness together.
There are no perfect crafts to bring home and no expectations for children to create something a certain way. Instead, there is freedom to get messy, follow curiosity, express emotions, move their bodies, and simply be children.
Come as you are. Bring your little one, your curiosity, your questions, and your whole self.
Whether you are in a season of finding your village, looking for new ways to connect with your child, or simply craving a moment to slow down in the midst of motherhood, Jelly’s Corner is a space for you.
Together, we will create, explore, and discover that the most meaningful moments of childhood often come from the simplest things.
